Kanye West is known for a lot of things - music, fashion trends, faux-pas, "foot in the mouth" situations and just plain craziness. I love his new fashion commitment though - check it out:
THE ROSEWOOD MOVEMENT according to Hood Nerd.com:
"The Rosewood Movement is a fashion initiative in which Kanye and his group wear the same sharply tailored suits. It stems from the Rosewood Civil Rights Movement, but in this case is meant to raise the level of sophistication within the rap and hip hop worlds. Kanye is known to be a fashion trend setter, so this is meant to influence his followers to dress a bit sharper. The current dress code is a Dior Homme Black Classic Skinny Suit (as seen on West in this photo). It is sold in Beverly Hills and New York City boutiques and retails for $2,200. It is available during every season."
So what's next for guys? Yep - probably ...."THE SUIT" - and not just for the holidays.
So guys, do you know your neck size, arm length ....how about chest size?
Next up? Kanye wears Lanvin and Phillip Lim - is this right for you? Let's talk about what brands you should look out for - for YOUR body type.
Nothing looks better than a man in a suit. I know you've heard that before! Some people like men in uniforms, others in suits. There is something about the structure, the fabric....but mostly the FIT. If the suit doesn't fit, it's like looking at a train wreck waiting to happen. I know you've seen people talking down the street - afraid they might trip on all that extra fabric they have around the legs or perhaps flash someone in the eye by how shiny the suit is ....or maybe you've seen the type who waits for the flood gates to open (pants too high).
Seriously - if you take the time to put it on....[after the complaints of "I dont have one", "Why do I have to wear this clown suit?" or "Do I really need to match the blazer and pants?"] you probably need to finally give in and either get a new one or at the least tailor the one you have. Every ONE (both men and women) need to have at least one good suit in their closet.
This will be the first of 3 more parts in the series about THE SUIT.
Part 1: Definition of a Suit and "Why wear one - I don't have that kind of job!"
Part 2: The Fit
Part 3: Putting it together with Flare
Seriously though. I saw this in an Aussi news post on thepunch.com and thought I would share it with you. They are obviously annoyed at these terribly all too common things men do to mess up suits. I think these are hilarious....true. true though.....
Top 10 suit crimes (1-5)
1. Eyewear
Avoid wearing sports sunglasses with a suit. It doesn’t make you look like a blues brother, it makes you look like a PE teacher at a wedding.
2. Tags
Cut the manufacturers tag off the sleeve of your suit. It’s amazing how many people leave them on. If you need to flash the label of your suit to prove its worthiness then you should get a new tailor.
3. Buttons
If you don’t want to look like you are facing up for your first court appearance then don’t button up all the buttons on you suit jacket. For a two button jacket only button the top button. On a three button jacket, button the middle button always and the top button only occasionally.
4. Walking to work
Unless you are channelling Jerry Seinfield, avoid wearing chunky white trainers with a suit. If you want to exercise then wear a track suit.
5. Shoulders
Its not 1991 and you’re not a American footballer so don’t wear shoulder pads that are overly thick with suit shoulders that are too wide. The shape of a suit’s shoulder is very important, it dictates the suit’s cut and is the tailor’s signature.
Furthermore it’s the only part of the suit that can’t be altered, so make sure the shoulder is right.
Trust your own instincts and don’t let the sales person’s flattery push you towards the wrong shoulder.
